FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS

What to do when there is a death?

Step 1.  Provide deceased person’s name (spell out) and gender to the following:

1. Imam at (804) 320-7333 or in person; 
2. if Imam is not available, contact either
   1. President of the ICVA at (804) 387-1312 or
   2.   Secretary Community Affairs at (804) 400-6433
3. Bennett Funeral Home at (804) 359-4480/4481/4482/4483.  Also provide dead body location.

Step 2.  Whoever from ICVA (i.e. Imam, President or Secretary of Community Affairs) receives the call, he/she will:

1. Obtain deceased full name, gender, date of death, & dead body’s location;
2. Obtain Contact’s (responsible person) phone number and address and place for burial;.
3. Inform the other parties accordingly (i.e. Imam, President, Secretary of Community Affairs); and
4. Inform Bennett Funeral Home or give Bennett phone number to caller.
5. President will prepare announcement and give to Imam or vice-versa.

Step 3.  Imam will:

1. Contact body washing team.
2. Also contact responsible person of the deceased person and inquire time for salat el-janaza (funeral prayer)
3. Brief responsible person about the funeral prayer timing and location

Step 4.  Muhammad Hanif will:

1. Assign a burial space in Islamic Section at Greenwood Memorial
2. Inform Bennett Funeral Home
3. Inform Greenwood  Memorial or Riverside  Cemetery
4. Inform President
